the Basics

I enjoy spending time with my husband and 2 year old son. We live the farm life in the country by Assaria, Kansas.

I love:

  • reading (especially anything health or natural birth/parenting related- see my resources page for my favorites)
  • listening to podcasts
  • yoga (I'm currently working on my teacher training)
  • gardening and anything outside in the sun
  • walking around Whole Foods for hours
  • trying out new, healthy recipes! My latest obsession is the Against All Grains cookbooks by Danielle Walker!

My Story

My name is Molly Martin. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas in 2011 with a Bachelor's in Science of Nursing. I have worked as a registered nurse for 7 years since then and continue to do so. I am a DONA certified post-partum doula- the only one in south-central Kansas.

In 2015 my life completely changed when I gave birth to my son. I now understood what it meant to be a mother- it was amazing. It was also the most challenging and overwhelming time in my life. There was so much education and preparation that went into having a healthy pregnancy and labor- but nothing for what happens afterward. I felt like I had no idea what I was doing and was in a constant fog for at least the first 6 months of my son's life. I tried so hard to keep up with my normal housework load and self-care, but I was always so behind. It seemed like my baby cried constantly and breastfeeding was excruciatingly painful (which I now know it should not be!). I further stressed myself out by listening to the advice I was getting that all contradicted itself and feeling like I was doing everything wrong. It seemed like every other new mom I knew was, albeit tired, so much more at ease than I was. What I had yet to learn was to trust my own intuition, take it one day at a time, and know what normal infant behavior and sleep patterns looked like.

Learning all this the way I did, has made me want to make the transition into motherhood easier for other new moms. I am so excited to help you and your family as you discover your new identity as a mother. I am very passionate about sharing the resources with you that I've stumbled across on my own journey. I can't wait to "lessen the learning curve" for you!
